Michael Salgado with special guest Magali Delarosa will headline Tejano Night at the 100th Curry County Fair on Thursday, Aug. 13.
Michael Salgado gained national attention as a Tejano singer/accordionist in the mid-‘90s. With his Ramon Ayalo influence sound, he re-introduced Tejano music to the younger generation. Salgados broke into the Latin music charts in 1995 with his single “Cruz De Madera.” His 1996 album En Concierto featured his top 20 hit, “Sin Ela.”
Tejano Music Awards has recognized Salgato four times, including “Best Song of the Year” for “Ya No Voy a Aguantar.” Other notable awards include the Billboard Latin Music Award “Best Album Regional Mexican” and a 2012 Grammy Awards nomination for “Best Banda Norteño.” In total, Salgado has released an impressive 13 studio albums as a Tejano artist.
Joining Salgado is singer, songwriter, fashion designer, and actress Magali Delarosa. In 2016, Tejano Music awards nominated Delarosa for “Best New Artist.” No stranger to the stage, Delarosa has performed at popular music venues like The House of Blues, The Key Club, El Cine Rey and The Congo Room, in 2017 she was invited to perform at the SXSW in Austin, TX. Delarosa is scheduled to release her 4th studio album in the summer of 2020 under Zurdo Records, the record label owned by Michael Salgado.
Starting the night will the Liberty Band. Concert will take place in the Curry County Events Center with the event starting at 7 pm. Tickets are included in the daily general admission; adults (13-55 years) will be $7, children (5-12 years) will be $3, senior (55 years and over) is $6.
