About the event
Team Roping: An Exciting Rodeo Event of Skill and Equality!

Team roping, or heading and heeling, is a thrilling rodeo event where two skilled riders work together to rope a steer. The "header" ropes the steer's front, aiming for the horns or neck, and turns the steer left. The "heeler" then ropes the steer's hind feet, incurring a five-second penalty if only one leg is caught. Both men and women compete equally, forming single or mixed-gender teams. Originating from ranch work, team roping uses a numbering system to rate ropers from one to ten, ensuring balanced competition. Many amateurs compete for prize money, with events often held at the Curry County Events Center, featuring Concessions and Bars.
